Smooth Implementation Thanks to Checkly’s Playwright Support and MaC Workflow

Another key reason why Frontegg chose Checkly is its Playwright support, which some monitoring solutions do not offer. The Frontegg team was already writing their tests with Playwright, so implementing Checkly was a painless process. 

Moreover, Checkly’s MaC (Monitoring as Code) workflow perfectly fits into Frontegg’s modern development approach through GitOps. When they came across Checkly, it was the first time they’d seen an out-of-the-box monitoring solution based on code, which made Checkly a good fit for the Frontegg team.

“We are a very modern development company, and we use Git for our entire infrastructure and code base. The fact that with Checkly we can write our monitors using a repository on Git is perfect for us. The Frontegg team uses Checkly to simulate user behavior and monitor their Priority One flows. 

They use browser checks to perform end-to-end monitors of the user flows in their systems, while API checks are used to make sure all their critical APIs are up and running. Frontegg’s developers have set up dozens of monitor checks, which run every minute from different countries on three different Frontegg deployment regions.

“Once a developer pushes new code, it first goes to our staging environment. Then, Checkly monitors allow us to check the staging region as well,” explains Jaron. This helps us prevent bad code from being deployed to a production environment because Checkly provides alerts and we can block the pipeline,” explains Amir. 

User authentication is one of the most important critical flows to monitor. Frontegg monitors this flow through a customer demo environment, simulating a real customer’s actions in each of their regions. Checkly’s browser checks simulate user login with browser checks, including credentials, social login, and all the different methods Frontegg has.

“With Checkly, we not only make sure that the user is able to log in; we can also verify that the response is valid with all the appropriate objects and entities that the user should include.
